Wales government announces apprenticeship incentive

The Chancellor’s “A Plan for Jobs” speech a couple of months ago launched a new apprentice incentive scheme to help boost the economy and kick-start jobs growth and recovery post COVID-19.
For all employers wishing to employ a new apprentice between 1st August 2020 and 28 February 2021, there is a financial incentive available for each new apprentice recruited as follows:
- £3,000 to employers for each new apprentice they hire aged 16-24 years, where the contract of employment is for at least 30 hours p/w.
- £1,500 to employers for each new apprentice they hire aged 16-24 years, where the contract of employment is at least 16 hrs p/w but under 30 hours p/w.
- £2,000 to employers for each new apprentice they hire aged 25 and over where the contract of employment is for at least 30 hours p/w
- £1,000 to employers for each new apprentice they hire aged 25 and over where the contract of employment at least 16 hrs p/w but is under 30 hours p/w.
