Nursery assistant apprenticeship

Job description
All Hunderton Neighbourhood Nursery and Kids Club staff are qualified or working towards their qualification. All staff are encouraged to attend courses to update their expertise regularly and this is cascaded to other staff through staff/room meetings

The candidates will report to the Team Manager each day, who will then indicate which team the candidate will be assigned to. Within the team the candidate will assist the other Nursery Assistants to plan and organise both fun and educational activities whilst taking care of the childrens personal needs.

Other key responsibilities may include the following:

Assisting the qualified staff with the day to day care of the children including cleaning, nappy changing and feeding

Working as part of a team to ensure a smooth running of the setting

Planning and completing activities with the children

Supporting the childrens development, learning and play

Completing development records for the children

Entry requirements

Maths and English a C Grade or above is desirable but not essential

Skills required

Good Communication

Basic Computer Skills

A desire to work with children

Happy to 'muck in'

Qualifications taken

Level 2 Childrens and Young Peoples Work Force Qualification

All Hunderton Neighbourhood Nursery and Kids Club staff are qualified or working towards their qualification. Currently the Manager of the setting holds a BA Hons in Integrated Early Childhood Studies and EYP (Early Years Professional) status. Our deputy manager has a BA Hons in Integrated Early Childhood Studies. All room Issue 23 – Sept 2018 3 supervisors have NVQ Level 3/Play work Level 3 or equivalent certificates, and all the key persons/play workers are qualified with a level 3 qualification, with the exception of one who is level 2 qualified, one currently undertaking a Foundation Degree in Early Years (FDEY) and one who has recently completed her FDEY and is currently working towards her BA Hons in Integrated Working with Children and Families. All staff are encouraged to attend courses to update their expertise regularly and this is cascaded to other staff through staff/room meetings
