Job description

During the Dental Nurse Apprenticeship, you will receive ongoing support, development and training to equip you with the skills and knowledge required to become a qualified dental nurse and have a successful career in dental nursing.

You daily activities could include:

  • Assisting the dentist in providing safe and effective treatments to patients, from simple check-ups to advanced specialist treatments
  • Proving patients with a high level of care
  • Setting up and cleaning surgery
  • Sterilising Instruments
  • Updating Patient Records
  • Maintaining Equipment
  • Preparing instruments and materials for various treatments
  • Adhering to practice policies and procedures

It is our practice policy to promote dental health at all times. We recommend to all our patients regular examinations to maintain good oral health. The NHS provides dental treatment to achieve dental health including fillings, periodontal care, extractions, dentures, veneers, crowns and some bridgework, providing there is a clinical need for the treatment. 

Accessible Surgeries

We have recently added a new wheelchair ramp and made our ground floor surgeries wheelchair accessible so all patients can comfortably attend their appointments.

There is usually lots of free parking on street outside the practice as well as a free car park just 1 minute walk away.

Requirements

General

GCSEs at grades C/4 or above (or equivalent) in Maths and English are desirable. If you do not have these grades, you will be required to complete Functional Skills.

Training provided

Level 3 Dental Nurse apprenticeship standard, which includes:

Level 3 Diploma in Dental Nursing

Level 2 Functional Skills in maths and English (if required)

End-Point Assessment (EPA)

Considerations
If you are using public transport, please ensure you have researched the route and that a regular and reliable service is available. In Dental Nursing, it is a requirement to have a course of Hepatitis B vaccines and a clear enhanced DBS.
