A traineeship is an extended work placement programme, designed to help you gain experience, develop work place skills and build your CV to get into employment. With a focus on real work experience as well as skills and we will support you every step of the way.
Through the programme you will:
- Receive blended learning – partly delivered in our classroom and partly delivered remotely
- Give you real work experience in a placement developing your workplace awareness
- Improve your maths and English
- Develop your CV writing and interview skills
- Build your confidence and employability
- Guaranteed job interview for apprenticeship vacancy
- Develop techniques to secure that job!
Our traineeship programme will run over a 3 week period and you will be working with us between 9am – 3.30pm. Our teaching will be delivered with through a combination of 26 hours face-to-face and 30 hours remote learning, covering a range of topics preparing you for your work placement.
In the classroom
You will spend a total of 26 hours in the classroom with one of our dedicated tutors, and will cover subjects such as:
- IT skills session
- Personal development session
- Interview skills session
- Mock interview & job research
- Understanding employment
- Employment rights & responsibilities
- Problems at work
Self-study and online teaching
As well as classroom based teaching, the traineeship will also include 30 hours online independent study via our easy to use online training portal.
This will include:
- Equality and diversity
- Safeguarding
- Health and safety
- Applying for a job
- CV writing
- Finance
- Sexual health
- Developing yourself
Zoom sessions with your tutor
Our online taught Zoom sessions are between 1 and 2 hours per day and support the topics that are taught via the online system, this will also include:
- Practice mock interviews
- One-to-one personal reviews
Is it right for me?
If you have little experience or have lost confidence in your work skills, this is the perfect route for you. An expert team are on hand to support and guide you in your weakest areas and build the fundamental techniques and skills required to ensure you’re ready to progress into an apprenticeship and become ‘work ready’.
Traineeships are a great way to root into gaining maths and English qualifications if you didn’t achieve these at GCSE, while being able to access high-quality placement opportunities in a range of sectors to inspire and motivate you, and discover your passion.

Our most asked questions
Can I receive one-to-one support if needed?
Yes you will, we have a dedicated support tutor who will support you while on course.
Do I need to go complete the work placement for 100 hours, I have work experience, I just want a job. Will I be paid for the work I do?
Yes you need to complete the work placement, the course is designed with the work placement as part of your development and we place you where there is a possible job opportunity. You will not be paid to attend the work placement however we use the placement to gain feedback which will help us to secure you an apprenticeship/job.
If I have good grades in maths and English, why do I need to complete these modules as part of the course?
As the course is government funding it is a requirement from them that you work towards further improving your skills in Maths and English.
Is a traineeship classed as full time education, Will this affect my parents benefits?
The traineeship runs for 7 weeks and is not classed as fulltime education. You will be in workshop for a total of 72 hours over 12 days and then attend at work placement for 100 hours
Is there a guaranteed job/apprenticeship at the end?
Unfortunately, we cannot guarantee there will be a job or apprenticeship available at the end of the course, it is dependent on the candidate and the job availability. However, we will support you for 6 months if you are not successful in gaining employment.
What qualification will I get from a traineeship?
Once you have completed the course you will gain a level 1 certificate in employability.
Will I be paid for a traineeship?
No, the traineeship is a government-funded programme, however, we will support travel costs for those 16 -18 and the cost of a DBS if needed.
Will i gain a maths and English function skills qualification?
No, however while on the programme you will work towards improving your maths and English with the support of a tutor.
