Cody Patrick - Childcare Level 2
Childcare was just something that I was quite interested in. I studied health and social care in school and AS level and I find it really interesting. That made me more interested in learning the practical side of the care sector. I didn’t really like the way the subject was being taught at college. I found the course, hard to take in. There wasn’t much practical work and what I did learn, I couldn’t see how it would be useful. With an apprenticeship however, I’ll be writing about something, and the next day, or when I get back into the room, I see it. This helps you to understand why it’s necessary and you are being taught it. For me, this was clearly the benefit of choosing an apprenticeship rather going to college.
I do a lot of my studying traveling to and from work. The balance of studying and working, allows me to understand why it’s necessary to understand why things are done a certain way. I enjoy working with the kids and seeing them develop, which is something you don’t see in the class room.
I’m a lot more confident and knowledgeable than I was before. If someone asks me ‘how would you do this’, I immediately how to do it.
I would definitely recommend Aspiration Training.
