Caitlin Baker - Childcare Level 2

I decided to do childcare as I have always wanted to work with children from a young age and liked the idea of working in a nursery with smaller children before they head off to school. I never really thought college or university was for me, and I would rather work at the same time as I’m getting my qualifications. This way, I’m gaining more knowledge and practical skills as I’m on the job rather than just learning from a book.

I decided to do my apprenticeship with Aspiration Training as they are very supportive and help people achieve to the best of their abilities.

The thing I enjoy most about my job is how rewarding it is and the relationships and connections I can build with the children.  I get to help and watch them grow and develop before they go off to school.

My biggest challenge was probably trying to keep on top of my assignments and deadlines alongside work when it can get hectic and busy. Throughout my apprenticeship I have become much more confident and as a result feel more confident in my field of work and my knowledge of childcare.

My assessor is great, and I feel as though she is very supportive and helpful and is very easy to talk to especially if I sometimes don’t understand something.

My career goals are to work my way up and gain all of the qualifications I can, so that I  can work my way up in the childcare sector. Since doing my apprenticeship, I have noticed I’ve become more confident and more aware of my knowledge. I would recommend a childcare apprenticeship with Aspiration Training to a colleague as I believe that I am now  better prepared for my future career.
