What’s involved in a health and social apprenticeship?

A health and social care apprenticeship can take you down many avenues within the health sector. By choosing an apprenticeship with Aspiration Training we will help you develop in a professional working environment within the health and social care sector looking after patients. You’ll be working alongside experienced staff growing your health care skills by looking after patients and their needs.

Our health and social care apprenticeships cover a wide range of aspects for example you will be monitoring individuals health by looking into their blood pressure, temperature and weight.

What can our health and social care apprenticeship give you?

We offer four different levels of health and social care apprenticeships:

  • Adult care worker level 2: Level 2 is equivalent to five good GSCEs. These provide the skills to progress as a qualified care worker.
  • Health care support worker level 2: This is an intermediate apprenticeship that gives you the equivalent of 5 good GCSEs that provide the skills to be a health care support worker.
  • Lead Adult Care Worker Level 3: The Level 3 lead adult care worker is an advanced apprenticeship equivalent to two A levels which can progress onto full-time work through the employer.
  • Senior Healthcare support worker level 3: The Level 3 senior healthcare support worker is an advanced apprenticeship equivalent to two A levels which can progress onto full-time work through the employer.

How will I be assessed?

You will study a variety of mandatory and optional units which will reflect your workplace practices. Your Assessor will use a wide range of assessment methods in order to collect evidence for your portfolio to demonstrate your knowledge and competency. Assessment will be ongoing throughout your qualification and will include observations, online tests, written questions, and professional discussions.

How will my health and social qualifications be achieved?

The health and social framework comprises of a range of mandatory and optional units. Learners will be supported by a dedicated Assessor throughout their qualification, together with Tutors for the Essential Skills qualifications. The framework will be delivered via monthly workshops, online tests, workplace visits, and remote learning sessions and a portfolio of evidence collected via our e-portfolio system, Smart Assessor.

Once you have registered with us, you will be given access to our e-portfolio system called Smart Assessor. Smart Assessor will contain all the resources you need to help you complete your framework. You will also be supported by a dedicated Assessor and Essential Skills Tutors who will deliver your framework via monthly workshops, workplace visits, and remote learning sessions.
