Learner of the month - January
Jade Gregory (Dental nursing assessor) nominated Billie, stating the following:
“From my first visit with Billie, she has continually thought she was not capable of completing her apprenticeship and always felt held back. She had attended high school in Spain when she was hugely disadvantaged, not only by the language barrier but the method if teaching was vastly different from what she was used to. Her low self-belief has stemmed from her Spanish teacher, who made her feel inadequate and unworthy. It was very difficult to motivate her to stay on the course or even complete any work. At one point, I was setting work one question at a time to make progress. Over the last 7 months, Billie has had to deal with a change in personal circumstances but despite this, she has remained committed and this week passed 2 exams! She has never cancelled a session with me, and she has now completed all her theory work. This is an absolutely huge achievement for this learner. Passing one exam was fantastic but passing two exams in one week has been incredible. From the young lady who sat and cried that she was not clever enough to now a strong individual who is passing exams with high scores. As your Assessor, I think you should be so proud of the effort and the determination you have shown. Well done.”
