People Assistant (Generalist with Recruitment)

We are seeking a People (HR) Assistant to assist the People & Culture function in providing comprehensive data administration, recruitment and customer service support.

Responsible for providing generalist first line function support to key internal and external stakeholders, supporting with day to day activities including recruitment and the management of email inboxes. Whilst also assisting with administration duties and ER matters including grievances, disciplinary and performance management issues.

Key Duties


  • To act as a first point of contact for all customers to the People team
  • To be the primary contact and systems administrator for queries on our IRIS people system (Internal HR System)
  • To provide an effective administration service relating to the employment lifecycle.
  • To co-ordinate recruitment activities including posting adverts, managing job boards, arranging interviews and providing support and guidance to candidates
  • Ensure all compliance and safer recruitment checks are undertaken within a timely, accurate matter
  • Ensure all processes have correct and timely communication and administration to underpin them
  • Co-ordinate the booking management of internal training courses, providing joining instructions to delegates and following up with evaluation and attendance reporting
  • Undertake monthly reporting on aspects of learning and development, including mandatory training units, CPD hours undertaken and course attendance
  • Manage and ensure that all recruitment advertising and activity supports and promotes the company brand through internal and external platforms
  • Represent the HR function at all times, working within statutory, best practice, employment law guidelines and ensuring consistent interpretation and understanding
  • Ensure own CPD and professional competency is maintained
  • Strive to maintain positive working relationships across the team
  • Maintain a flexible approach to support your team and the wider business

  • Experience of working within a people/Human resources team or recruitment role highly desirable
  • Experience of working within a recruitment role (Highly desirable)
Qualifications and Behaviours


  • Level 2 English and maths
  • CIPD L3 or Degree in Human Resources (or equivalent)
  • Business Administration qualification
