Head of Business Development - Wales

We are seeking a Head of Business Development, based in Cardiff, Wales to be responsible for leading and developing a Business Development team across all business development activities in region, ensuring company revenue and learner start targets are consistently delivered in line with sales strategy.

Key Duties

People:

  • Provide leadership and develop business development team to create high performance culture
  • Take responsibility for effective communication & engagement of the team including structured calls, meetings and events.
  • Performance manage all members of the team to deliver outstanding individual and team results including undertaking monthly performance review meetings
  • Actively support, coach and mentor team members in the field with employer visits, IAG and presentations

Quality & Compliance:

  • Ensure initial assessments, health and Safety vetting and enrolments are completed in a timely and compliant manner across the team.
  • Manage the team to respond to and resolve enrolment queries from the Administration team in a timely manner
  • Ensure CRM is being used effectively and accurately for tracking activity and reporting

Stakeholders:

  • Ensure team maintain strong, long-lasting relationships with employers to support the achievement of sales targets
  • Support key employers and referral partners in your region as the first point of contact to deliver effective account management and maximise business opportunities
  • Work closely with the Marketing department to identify and execute localised campaigns, contributing to social media activity and attending events
  • Maintain awareness of business capacity and competency across region by working closely with Sector Managers
  • Develop your team’s knowledge about different funding streams and career pathways in sector to deliver effective Information Advice and Guidance

Growth:

  • Support the development and execution of the sales strategy
  • Support team with expanding our employer base in agreed markets and geography, delivering agreed age mix of clients from both levy and non-levy paying employers
  • Monitor your team’s business development performance in line with role KPIs, ensuring that a consistent, ongoing sales pipeline is identified, leading to the achievement of sales targets
  • Ensure all BDM’s have a clear regional business development plan to target new and existing employers in sector/geography
  • Monitor the team to follow up and convert leads and referrals in a timely manner
  • Support the team in conducting employer presentations to win new business
  • Identify any suitable opportunities to promote other company service
  • Negotiate commercial contracts with larger employers
  • Support the sales director in planning and budgeting, providing realistic and accurate monthly forecasts
Qualifications and Experience
  • Direct line management experience
  • Business Development/Sales experience (B2B & B2C)
  • Marketing knowledge including use of Social Media
  • Telesales management with both internal/external stakeholders
  • Strong working knowledge of CRM systems, B2B pipeline management and best practices in sales management
  • Experience using Microsoft packages including word, excel and PowerPoint
  • Previous exposure to apprenticeships/adult education desirable
