73% of employers say staff morale was improved by having an apprentice

When you think of hiring an apprentice, you may not instantly think of the benefits that they could provide to increase your employee morale, but a recent study found that 73% of employers say that staff morale was improved by having apprentices. This could be due to the fact that apprentices tend to be young, eager for success, more motivated and flexible within their role to support others around them.

Employee morale is an important aspect for any business to look at and work to improve, as it could have an impact on your overall business. Morale is a combination of emotions, attitudes, job satisfaction and the overall outlook your employees are feeling during the time they spend at work. Employee morale is a big factor in productivity, and a poor morale could ultimately affect your bottom line.

Another study found that an apprentice is more likely to remain loyal to their company, which is a driver for staff continuity and morale, and promotes a healthy work ethic amongst the workforce.

Build staff retention and loyalty in your workplace

Hiring an apprentice is also an effective method of building staff retention and loyalty, as it’s far more likely that someone you’ve spent time and effort training will stay with your company longer than those who don’t benefit from training.

Apprentices tend to feel valued by the company that invested in them and helped them to start their career, and are therefore more likely to stay in their job for longer. This can also create a positive impact for the existing team, as they are likely to see that you’re investing in people, which can improve morale and general company culture.
