Playwork level 3
This qualification is primarily for those working in regulated playwork settings with children over 5 years of age outside of an education setting who already have a previous childcare qualification.
The expected framework duration for this course is 5 months.
The learner will need a previous childcare level 3 qualification and be in paid employment with a contract of employment for them to meet the requirements of the programme.
What is covered on the course?
This qualification will allow learners to develop their current knowledge and skills required for employment within a playwork setting. It combines both reflective practice, activities and workbook theoretical knowledge to cover areas such as:
• Playwork principles
• Play cycle
• Play types
• Playwork theories
Upon successful completion of this course, you will be awarded the following:
• Level 3 Award in Transition to Playwork
How is the course delivered?
This qualification is delivered in workshops via Zoom.
The learners will need to attend 3 workshops where they will be taught information on each of the units 300, 301 and 302.
Assignments will be set after each session to be completed by the following month when they will need to attend their next session.
All workshops are taught over Zoom and are 3 hours long either running in the morning 9.30 – 12.30, afternoon 1.30 – 4.30 or evening 5pm – 8pm. There is limited availability of evening sessions which are run from 5.30pm- 8.30pm.
To achieve the qualification, candidates must pass all units by completing all the written tasks set and submit in a timely manner.

Can my existing staff start an apprenticeship?

How does the apprentice learn?
Apprentices do most of their learning at work and benefit from regular contact with their dedicated assigned assessor. There is coursework to be completed while on the course, which is to be submitted online, however, the knowledge to complete this is provided while learning inside your business.
How much do I have to pay an apprentice?
Apprentices must be paid at least the national minimum wage for apprentices if they are aged 19 and under or aged 19 and over and in their first year of an apprenticeship.
Apprentices are often paid higher amounts as their skills develop and we encourage employers to do so
