Lead adult care worker Level 3

Overview

This apprenticeship is for those is for those who have prior knowledge or experience of working within the care sector. The apprentice will become a lead adult care worker who are frontline staff in helping adults with care and support while helping them to achieve their personal goals and live as independently and safely as possible, enabling them to have control and choice in their lives. The apprentice will also have responsibility for providing supervision, frontline leadership, guidance and direction for others, or working autonomously, exercising judgement and accountability.

Course duration:

13 months with up to 3 months EPA.

Entry requirements:

The apprentice must be at least 16 years old and will be required to undertake a DBS check. They must also be employed, working more than 16 hours per week and have some experience of working within the care sector.

What is covered on the course?

The apprentice will be expected to complete the 10 mandatory diploma units below:

• Safeguarding and protection in care settings
• Responsibilities of a care worker
• Promote personal development in care settings
• Promote health, safety and wellbeing in care settings
• Supporting infection prevention and control in adult care
• Promote effective handling of information in care settings
• Duty of care in care settings
• Promote equality and inclusion in care settings
• Promote person-centred approaches in care settings
• Promote communication in care settings

Qualifications:

Upon successful completion of this apprenticeship, the apprentice will be awarded the following:

  • Level 3 Diploma in Adult Care
  • Lead Adult Care Worker Standards
  • Functional Skills in Maths and English Level 2 (if applicable)

Can my existing staff start an apprenticeship?

How does the apprentice learn?

Apprentices do most of their learning at work and benefit from regular contact with their dedicated assigned assessor. There is coursework to be completed while on the course, which is to be submitted online, however, the knowledge to complete this is provided while learning inside your business.

How much do I have to pay an apprentice?

Apprentices must be paid at least the national minimum wage for apprentices if they are aged 19 and under or aged 19 and over and in their first year of an apprenticeship.

Apprentices are often paid higher amounts as their skills develop and we encourage employers to do so
