What is a Dental Practice Manager Apprenticeship?

This programme is specially designed to develop management competencies for qualified dental practice managers and dental professionals. Persons undertaking this apprenticeship will develop an in-depth understanding of the principles of management tailored to a dental environment, which underpin care quality regulations.

Successful candidates will be able to use the regulatory standards as a route to running more efficient, motivated and productive teams, resulting in better patient experiences and an overall more powerful dental team. Aspiration Training aims to provide an apprenticeship delivery specific to the requirements of the manager whether this be a dental practice manager, area manager in a corporate setting or a lead dental nurse with the resources and support of the principal dentist/manager.


How the Level 4 (Diploma) Dental Practice Manager Apprenticeship Works

This Dental Practice Manager course for apprentices takes 18 months with up to 3 months EPA.

The apprentice must be at least 16 years old and will be required to undertake a DBS check. They must also have the ability to access all aspects of the dental practice management systems including some aspects of finances, marketing, practice development and recruitment. Apprentices will also be expected to have completed their functional skills or equivalent in Maths and English at Level 2.

Upon successful completion of this apprenticeship, the apprentice will be awarded the following:

There is coursework to be completed while on the course, which is to be submitted online, however, the knowledge to complete this is provided while learning inside your business.

There are 9 mandatory diploma units that the dental practice manager apprentice will be expected to complete during the apprenticeship to achieve their diploma. This includes 6 credits from 4 optional units in the course.

The Management framework comprises a range of mandatory and optional units. Learners will be supported by a dedicated Assessor throughout their qualification, together with Tutors for the Essential Skills qualifications. The framework will be delivered via monthly workshops, workplace visits and remote learning sessions and a portfolio of evidence collected via our e-portfolio system, Smart Assessor.
