Distance learning courses for your employees

Aspiration Training offers a wide range of professional qualifications for employers looking to increase the skills of their employees.  Distance learning is an efficient and effective means of professional development and our courses enable work and study to be combined, with immediate benefits.

The knowledge and skills acquired through study can be immediately applied in the workplace and courses don’t require time away from work. This approach to study enables greater benefits and value to be quickly realised – vital in a climate where value for money can be a key consideration.

All of our distance learning courses are accredited by NCFE and are eligible for ESFA funding in England

Improving employee satisfaction and staff retention

One of the best ways to retain talent is to provide development opportunities. Yes, working hours and competitive pay are important, but supporting your staff in their career journey is priceless.

By enrolling your employees onto a distance learning course you are providing them with structured training and development, delivered by an expert in the field, which will develop their knowledge, give them a formal qualification and enhance their CV.

This all makes for a happier and more satisfied employee, and high staff satisfaction equals low staff turnover – potentially saving you cost elsewhere.

Supporting your employees during their studies

One of the many employer benefits of distance learning is that your employees are not taken out of the business. With this in-mind, any staff members participating in a distance learning programme will be completing their studies in their own time – on weekends and during evenings.

Employees can choose to start their courses any time of the year and some courses are as short as 16 weeks long. You may wish to offer your staff time off work to help complete their studies – for example, one day every other week, or a day a month, as a gesture of goodwill and to show your support. At the end of the day, it is your business that will benefit from the individual passing their course and becoming more skilled.

Helping the cost to the business

Cost is often a barrier for employers when it comes to training staff, but that needn’t be the case if you consider distance learning as an option.

Distance learning is such a low cost alternative to traditional university or college, if asked, employees may pay for themselves. However, if it is something your business wants to pay for, as a staff benefit or as part of a training and development programme, enquire about bulk discounts, as some providers will offer reduced rates if you enrol a large number of employees onto a single course.

Business benefits

Aside from resulting in a more skilled workforce and the employee satisfaction benefits mentioned above, partnering up with a distance learning provider may also increase your business networking opportunities. Your employees will be studying within a large online learning community and they’re likely to interact with other students, business owners and lecturers. They’ll be representing your brand so this could create networking opportunities for your business in the future.

Who is eligible for an online distance learning course?

Any of your employees aged 16 or over are eligible for distance learning courses. There are some prerequisites depending on the exact course you enrol your employee on, for example for some subjects you need a level 1 qualification, and the staff member has to have been living in the UK for the last 3 years, along with having access to a computer/laptop.
