Childcare – Level 2

What's involved?



The Intermediate Apprenticeship is aimed at anyone working in a supporting role e.g. nursery assistant, childcare worker, crèche worker or special educational needs assistant. This is a generic qualification that will be relevant across the Children and Young People’s Workforce. It is mapped to the CWDC Induction Standards and the Children’s Care Learning and Development National Occupational Standards.


How long is the course?


The Childcare Level 2 course is a 12 month apprenticeship.


Other information


You will be given a Trainer to support you with all of the qualifications. They will visit you in the workplace and provide you with email and telephone support between visits. You will be given free access to our e-portfolio system, Smart assessor which will include all the resources you need to complete the qualifications to complete the qualifications.

What can I do next?

The next step would be to undertake the Advanced Apprenticeship for the Early Years Educator which would enable you to become a Room Supervisor or Team leader.



You must be 16 years or over.

Not in full-time education.
