Higher Apprenticeship in Children’s Care, Learning and Development Services (Advanced Practice)

What's involved?


The Apprenticeship is aimed at experienced and senior practitioners working in roles such as Senior Practitioner, Deputy manger, Flying Start Leader or Assistant Manager. it will provide the advanced skills and knowledge required to develop and manage childcare provision.


How long is the course?

This course will run for 18 months

Other information

Learners will be given support from specialist tutors and trainers that will deliver training in workshops and in the workplace and provide telephone and e-mail support between visits.

Learners will also be given access to an e-portfolio, Smart Assessor, which includes all of the resources required to complete the qualification.


What qualifications will learners achieve?

  • Level 5 Diploma in Leadership for Children’s Care Learning and Development Services (Advanced Practice)
  • Level 2 Essential Application of Number Skills
  • Level 3 Essential Communication Skills
  • Level 1 Essential Digital Literacy Skills

This Level 5 Diploma is not approved for the use by those who are under 18 years of age.

There are no formal entry requirements for learners undertaking this Diploma. Learners should not be entered for a qualification of the same type, content and level as that of a qualification they already hold.

Learners entering the children and young people’s sector are legally required to undergo formal record check relevant to their home nation prior to taking up any employment/work placement.
