Childcare apprentice Safa Ahmed shortlisted as a finalist in the BAME Apprenticeship Awards

We are thrilled to announce that one of our childcare apprentices, Safa Ahmed, has been shortlisted for the BAME Apprentice of the Year award in the ‘Health, Medical and Social Care’ section.
The BAME Apprenticeship Awards recognises British BAME apprentices, their employers and learning providers. To see the full shortlist, please click here
What we admire most about Safa is the great achievements she manages completely by herself. She is so dedicated to learning outside of her course and then making that practical in the childcare setting. Due to the pandemic, it was difficult to get Safa in observational situations, but she took strong initiative to spend her own time to learn from existing members of staff and do research of her own to ensure she was as fully ready as possible. Safa often does her own learning and is very driven and self-taught.
We had a chance to speak with Safa to see what she thought about all of this…
We asked her what it would mean to win this award which she responded with…
“If I was to win this award it would make me so happy. It will show me that my hard work has paid off and forever remind me that doing an apprenticeship was the best thing in my educational journey.”
Talking about her childcare apprentice, she says that…
“My apprenticeship involves me caring and looking after children. It is about achieving personal and educational targets and being a support system for the children. My apprenticeship has given me valuable hands-on skills that I could not have acquired elsewhere.”
Safa talked about recommending an apprenticeship to other people saying…
“I would absolutely recommend an apprenticeship as it gives you an easier and more ‘hands-on’ approach to learning. You can gain relevant experience whilst meeting new people in your sector and adapting to new environments.”
Safa was nominated by her Vocational Coach in Childcare – Shaheen Dar who said that…
“(In reference to Safa) She is an exceptional learner. She is always going that extra step to learn and achieve more. She is always working extra hours, often unpaid, so she can really understand her sector. Even through difficult times, Safa has continuously excelled in her apprenticeship and I wish her the best of luck.”
We are incredibly proud of Safa Ahmed and her educational journey with Aspiration Training. The awards event will take place on September 30th 2021 where the winners will be revealed. We wish Safa all the luck in the World and will continue to support her throughout her journey.
