Meet Lucy, Lucy is a Careers advisor at Aspiration Training who initially started her career as a Dental Nurse. Read below to learn about her journey and the progression of her career in the dental industry.
Lucy began her career in dental nursing in April of 2018 at a private practice. She enrolled in the NEBDN course later that year. Unfortunately, due to the impact of Covid-19 and subsequent lockdowns, her dental nurse exams were postponed. However, she successfully completed her qualifications in October 2020, which was a very rewarding achievement.
During Lucy's time at a private dental practice, she gained valuable experience in various specialised areas such as implant nursing, sedation nursing, sinus lift and graft surgery, and periodontal surgery, in addition to routine dentistry.
In April 2022, Lucy made the decision to transition to a role as a dental technician at a private dental laboratory. I thoroughly enjoyed my work at the lab, where I focused on fabricating dentures and other dental appliances. Unfortunately, Lucy's time at the laboratory was cut short due to the necessity of relocating.
Dentistry isn't just a career for Lucy - she has said that "it's a passion that has completely transformed my life. It's taken me from a shy, insecure individual to someone who can confidently speak to anyone and has placed me in the fulfilling role I hold today."
Now, she is a part of the dental team at Aspiration Training, being a Careers Advisor, where she recruits dental nurse apprentices, inspiring others to join this incredible field. "Aspiration Training isn't just a course provider - they're a beacon of excellence and a truly amazing place to work. I am proud to be a part of such an incredible team, shaping the future of dentistry and empowering others to pursue their dreams in this rewarding profession."
Because of Lucy's role as a dental nurse, she is now familiar with the attributes desired by practice owners when hiring for this position. She has a strong understanding of the qualities that are essential for a dental nurse to excel in their role. She says that "Reflecting on my time as a dental nurse, I consider it to be one of the most fulfilling and rewarding careers that has ultimately led me to my current position."
