Job description
During the Dental Nurse Apprenticeship, you will receive ongoing support, development and training to equip you with the skills and knowledge required to qualify and have a successful career in dental nursing.
- Your daily activities could include:
- Assisting the dentist in providing safe and effective treatments to patients, from simple check-ups to advanced specialist treatments
- Providing patients with a high level of care
- Setting up and cleaning surgery
- Sterilising instruments
- Updating patient records
- Maintaining equipment
- Preparing instruments and materials for various treatments
- Adhering to practice policies and procedures
- The use of VR Technology
During your working day, the dental practice will support you with learning the practical skills required, whilst your training provider (Aspiration Training) will teach you the theory side. Your study will be based online with regular teaching and 1-2-1 sessions. Off the job training will be given throughout your apprenticeship during paid working hours.

As a dental nurse apprentice, you will be a key member of our clinical team, providing excellent care to patients and assisting in the day-to-day operations of the practice. Your apprenticeship training will be delivered in partnership with Aspiration Training, combining practical experience with theoretical learning to support your professional development.
Key Responsibilities
- Preparing the dental surgery for each patient and ensuring all necessary instruments are sterilised and in place
- Assisting the dentist during a variety of procedures, including preparing materials and handling instruments
- Providing chair-side support to patients, ensuring they feel comfortable and cared for throughout their visit
- Maintaining a clean and safe working environment by following infection control and hygiene protocols
- Recording patient medical information, updating records, and ensuring all information is handled confidentially
- Assisting with administrative tasks, such as scheduling appointments and maintaining accurate records
Training
Your Level 3 qualification in Dental Nursing will be delivered through Aspiration Training. This apprenticeship is fully funded and equips you with the knowledge and skills needed to excel in dental nursing.

Additional information
Requirements
GCSEs at grades C/4 or above (or equivalent) in Maths and English are desirable. If you do not have these grades, you will be required to complete Functional Skills.

Once qualified, there are a number of routes for further training and development, including dental hygienist, dental therapist or dental cosmetics. Also, the opportunity for career progression into head nurse, team leader, or practice manager.
Training provided
The apprenticeship provides employment and training within a dental practice to study the Level 3 dental nurse apprenticeship. The apprenticeship is designed to teach the knowledge, skills and behaviours necessary to ensure competency in all aspects of clinical duties including: -

Upon successful completion you will awarded the relevant qualification to apply for professional registration as a dental nurse to the General Dental Council (GDC).
