Job description
As an apprentice Dental Nurse you will be assisting with all clinical aspects within the surgery and providing patients with a high level of care. You will need to remain calm under pressure and able to put people at ease. You will receive ongoing support, development and training to equip you with skills and knowledge required for a successful dental nursing career.
Your daily activities could include:-
Assisting the dentist with providing treatments to patients
Patient Care
Setting up and cleaning surgery
Sterilising Instruments
Updating Patient Records
Maintaining Equipment
Preparing instruments and materials for various treatments
Adhering to practice policies and procedures
During your apprenticeship you will development the skills required to support patients and dental staff in providing safe and effective treatment from simple check-ups to advanced specialist treatments.

Role Responsibilities:
Assist dentists and hygienists during clinical procedures, ensuring a smooth and efficient workflow.
Provide excellent patient care, supporting individuals before, during, and after treatment.
Maintain high standards of infection control and sterilisation procedures.
Prepare and maintain dental instruments, equipment, and materials.
Accurately update and manage patient records.
Adhere to health and safety protocols and regulatory guidelines.
Contribute to the smooth day-to-day running of the practice, including administrative support when required.

Requirements
GCSEs at grades C/4 or above (or equivalent) in Maths and English are essential.
Prospects

Training provided
The apprenticeship provides employment and training within a dental practice to study the Level 3 dental nurse apprenticeship. The apprenticeship is designed to teach the knowledge, skills and behaviours necessary to ensure competency in all aspects of clinical duties including: -

The use of VR Technology
Upon successful completion you will awarded the relevant qualification to apply for professional registration as a dental nurse to the General Dental Council (GDC).
Considerations
A passion and desire to work within the dental sector is essential and to not be put off at the sight of blood. If you using public transport to get to the practice, please ensure you have researched the route and that a regular service is available. It is also a requirement to have a course of Hepatitis B vaccines and a clear enhanced DBS.
