Level 3 Apprenticeship

Overview

This apprenticeship is for individuals who have prior knowledge or experience of working within the adult care sector. The learner will become a lead adult care worker, providing adults with the care and support they need. This enables these adults to achieve their personal goals and live as independently and safely as possible while enabling them to have control and choice. The learner will also have responsibility for providing supervision, frontline leadership, guidance and direction for others, in addition to working autonomously, exercising judgement and accountability as required.


What is covered on the course?

The apprentice will be expected to complete the 13 mandatory diploma units below:

  • Ways of working
  • Safeguarding and protection in care settings
  • Mental capacity and restrictive practice
  • Duty of care
  • Promote effective communication
  • Handling information effectively
  • Person-centered practice
  • Promote choice and independence
  • Health and well-being
  • Equality, diversity, inclusion and human rights
  • Health and safety
  • Promote continuous personal development
  • Manage personal wellbeing


The learner will also work towards Functional Skills Level 2 in Maths and English, if applicable.

Course duration

13 months plus up to 3 months for EPA.

Entry requirements

The individual must be at least 16 years old and will be required to undertake a DBS check. They must be employed, working more than 16 hours per week and have some experience of working within the care sector.

End Point Assessment (EPA)

  • 60-question multiple choice test completed in 90 minutes
  • 45-minute professional discussion supported by a portfolio of evidence

Qualifications

On successful completion of this apprenticeship, the apprentice will be awarded the following:

  • Level 3 Diploma in Adult Care
  • Lead Adult Care Worker Standards Certificate
  • Functional Skills in Maths and English level 2 (as appropriate)
