Congratulations to Alyson Dale who was awarded the Managing Directors’ Award by Kelly Windsor and Lisa Lloyd. Here is her nomination:

Alyson has worked for Aspiration Training for nearly six years now. In that time, she has demonstrated her loyalty and commitment to Aspiration Training, particularly so throughout 2011. As we passed the half way mark of the 2010-11 contract year, we identified that we would need to recruit increased numbers of learners within the last three months in order to meet our contract value. As such, I approached Alyson to break the news to her! Alyson would need to recruit double the amount of learners that she usually recruited, in fact between 60 and 80 learners each month throughout May, June and July. As fully expected, Alyson took the news in her stride. She calmly agreed that this could, and would be done, and set about marketing and making appointments. Alyson delivered, and we hit our 2010-11 contract value as a result. As we commenced the first quarter of the 2011-12 contract year, we found that we had been fortunate enough to acquire a new route, and an additional 60 starts in a brand new sector. Again, I approached Alyson tentatively to break the news to her! Without any complaint, Alyson picked up her laptop and set about recruiting the first cohort.

It would be so easy to take Alyson for granted, as she is accepting, compliant and motivated. Thus I think it important to pause, and pay Alyson her dues, for the outstanding work that she has undertaken in both of the examples above over the last year, and her unwavering faith in Aspiration Training as an employer. Congratulations on a year of outstanding performance…a personal best for our Business Development Manager, Alyson Dale.

Congratulations to Leanne Bailey who was awarded with the Employee of the Year award 2011. Leanne has kept the Health and Social Care team going through what has been over the last few months which has been an extremely trying time. As well as a promotion to team–leader, the team lost 3 Assessors in quick succession who’s caseloads had not been managed properly. However, Leanne took on the challenge and, with the depleted team, got each candidate on track with encouragement and praise for help given, gpt the candidates settled again. Learners were left with specific needs that not all assessors were qualified for, so Leanne took them on and has been seeing them to complete their award. Also, unallocated learners were put on her caseload. To cap it all, Leanne IV’s in their evenings and still smiles!!! I feel this person could not give any more to the company, and is a very worthy candidate for Employee of the Year.

Congratulations to Paul Gunnell who has been awarded December ‘employee of the month’. Paul joined the business development team less than three months ago. Throughout this time, he has exceeded his monthly target every month and managed to learn health and safety and sign-up paperwork on the go, with very little training and development. Paul is a pleasure to work with as nothing is too much trouble. He is hardworking, organised and committed and deserve to be recognised for the contribution he has made over the past few months.

The inspection resulted in no actions and the external verifier was very happy with the evidence seen and, in particular, commented on the good internal verification processes. This was the first inspection Leanne Bailey, Team Leader, has managed and this is an excellent result.

I would like to say well done to the whole team on this achievement and a big thank you to Leanne for preparing for the visit so professionally.

Keep up the good work!

Having achieved ‘one to watch’ in the previous two years for 2011 the company has achieved the one star status thereby recognising the notable progress made during the last twelve months.

Best Company – 1 StarThe scheme is based on detailed and individual employee questionnaires focusing on eight categories – leadership, my manager, personal growth, well-being, my team, giving something back, my company and fair deal. The results from this survey together with a complimentary survey conducted at the annual conference in December have resulted in a comprehensive action plan to address employee concerns and other shortcomings related to employee well-being.

Foot note: 1165 organisations applied to achieve ‘star status’, of which 498 were successful.
